DIY Moisturizing Hand Cream

diy moisturizing hand cream

This week I want to share a very quick and easy for DIY moisturizing hand cream. As a testament to how easy this recipe is, it was one of the very first things I made with my oils when I got my Premium Starter Kit from Young Living. When I first got my kit I had been struggling with some patches of dry skin, and had even gotten to the point where I saw my dermatologist for help. The cream she gave me seemed to be helping somewhat, but then I found this recipe. When I realized it was not only natural and very nourishing for skin, but also smelled sooo wonderful and soothing, I could not wait to use it. It took all of 5 minutes to make and I jumped in to soaking myself in it several times a day. šŸ™‚ After just a few days the dry patches that had stubbornly bothered me for months started to clear up. They were completely gone in a few weeks and haven’t returned! So without further adieu–

DIY Moisturizing Hand Cream Recipe

-1/2 cup coconut oil

-15 drops Lavender essential oil

-15 drops Frankincense essential oil

For this recipe, simply mix the essential oils into the coconut oil and voila! It stores best in an airtight container, and is easiest to mix if the coconut oil is slightly melted. Depending on where you live and the time of year, your coconut oil might be very firm or it might already by soft enough to stir together. I store my cream in a small mason jar, and scoop out and apply directly to my hands as needed. It should last through the expiration date on your coconut oil.

Another thing IĀ love about this recipe is that is also doubles as a calming nighttime cream since it uses two oils not only great for skin, but also for promoting relaxation and positive emotions. Apply to hands and/or feet before bedtime to promote feelings of calm and restful sleep. There are several other recipes I can’t wait to share that involve more ingredientsĀ and are also great for various skin needs, but I thought this was a great one to start out with! It has made a huge difference for my skin especially during the dry winter months, so I hope you all find it useful šŸ™‚
